Your SHEEPDOG earpiece is built to perform. Keep it that way with regular care. A few simple maintenance steps will protect your investment and maintain crystal-clear sound.
MAINTENANCE BASICS
VOLUME
Protect your hearing and preserve your earpiece's speaker by lowering the volume before powering on your radio and plugging in your earpiece.
While the speaker itself won't "blow" like a traditional speaker, the internal sound bar that delivers crystal-clear audio can be damaged by sudden loud bursts. Starting at a low volume prevents this damage and keeps your earpiece performing at its best.
MOISTURE
Your SHEEPDOG earpiece is designed to handle everyday moisture from your ears and light rain exposure. They're not waterproof, so avoid submerging them or inserting them into wet ears. Keep them as dry as you reasonably can.
Tip: If water or sweat gets into the ear tip, let them air dry completely before using them again.
CLEANING
Keep your eartip clean for optimal sound and speaker longevity.
Remove and clean it daily to prevent earwax buildup, which can muffle audio or cause it to cut out entirely. Our SHEEPDOG eartips feature a built-in wax filter to protect the speaker. Regular maintenance ensures your earpiece will perform at its best and keeps your warranty intact. Lack of maintenance voids warranty.
Important
Changing the Wax Filter
To maintain optimal audio quality, replace the wax filter as soon as you notice reduced sound performance or if the wax filter or eartip becomes dirty or clogged with earwax or debris.
Step 1: Remove the Ear Tip
Gently pull the ear tip (dome) straight off the end of the earpiece to expose the wax filter.
Step 2: Remove the Used Wax Filter
Take a new wax filter tool from your replacement kit. Insert the empty removal end straight into the old wax filter, press firmly, and pull straight out to remove the used filter.
Step 3: Install the New Wax Filter
Turn the tool around so the new wax filter is facing the earpiece. Push the new filter straight into the opening until it sits completely flush with the end of the earpiece. Pull the tool straight away, leaving the new filter in place.
Step 4: Reattach the Ear Tip
Push the ear tip securely back onto the earpiece until it is fully seated.
Tech Notes:
Replace the wax filter whenever audio becomes muffled or noticeably quieter. Always install the filter straight into the opening—avoid twisting or forcing it.
